For international companies with multiple locations, it is essential for the success of the company that specialist departments can access relevant KPIs anytime and anywhere in order to make the right decisions. However, Dexcom Germany, a continuous glucose monitoring company for people with diabetes, faces the difficult task of having data centrally managed and provided by a department based in the USA, where the company is headquartered. This creates processes that cost a lot of time and resources.
Together with taod, Dexcom is developing department-specific Tableau reporting that provides a comprehensive overview of sales and marketing activities as well as internal processes and takes data analysis to a higher level.
The central challenge of this project is to develop customized reporting that meets the specific requirements of the Sales, Marketing and Internal Processes departments. Due to the considerable amount of time required for this task, taod is responsible for creating the reports in close coordination with Dexcom. This involves translating department-specific requirements into both strategic and operational measures. For example, marketing reporting enables the precise tracking of lead development and customer acquisition from marketing activities. In sales, on the other hand, reporting can be used to adapt the distribution key to the needs of customers. In the area of internal processes, the aim is to automate the recipe processing procedure in order to ensure optimum efficiency. The overarching goal is to establish an independent and comprehensive Tableau reporting system for Dexcom Germany and to enable employees to use this tool effectively.
The first step is to carry out a requirements analysis. Based on this, an analysis is carried out for the department with the greatest identified need. In this case, it is the department that deals with the approval of prescriptions by the health insurance companies.
In order to develop a better understanding of Dexcom, a conception workshop is held in a second step. Important stakeholders for the project are identified and departments for which reports and analyses in Tableau are essential are recognized. The workshop also includes the definition of current challenges.
Once all departments for which reports and analyses are of great importance have been identified in the second step, the next step is to gradually create and expand them. The measures are accompanied by the development and improvement of employee skills in Tableau, the standardization of key figure definitions and the development of a modern design as a basis.
